During this module, I plan on exercising my artistic abilities and find out what I really enjoy, and try to figure out what I would like to do in the future as a career. I feel the plans I've made will help to straighten out what I want to do and will give me work for a portfolio.
I hope to research thoroughly into my chosen subject area and use the information gathered to create engaging and innovative ideas to put into practise. I also want to work on my skills, and try to get them up to a level that I am comfortable with.
I have gone through a few different iterations of my brief, but I feel I am on course now to something I really enjoy. I have chosen to create animation concept art for the book, 'The Secret Garden'[5], and I really want to get better at many aspects of drawing and design during this project. I will be trying to get better at characterisation, gesture drawing, creating weight in my characters, environment design and colour and lighting. I want to improve my digital art skills as well as my quick sketching skills, and I would like to go on location and find visual information to inform my work.
I am really excited to start this project and get my teeth into it. I hope to produce a good quality portfolio of work that includes both stand alone imagery as well as animatics and images in sequence, so it will show how my work would look as an actual animation.
I will start this project with research and getting really inspired by the work of others, and try to translate that into my own work.
