'Modern Disasters' Animation (abandoned)

Here is my design board for my idea of creating an animation entitled, 'Modern Disasters'. It was going to poke fun at today's society, trying to make a comparison of two students, one of whom was a 'bad student' and another that was going to be a 'good student'. It was going to be satirical and set out like a 1950's public information film, and would include a very 50's style that I developed after looking into the art of the period.

I researched into public information films, getting inspiration from them and trying to look at how they characterised their subjects.

Public Information Film about Health Education[1].

Public Information Film about Nuclear Fallout[2].

Public Information Film about Pond Safety[3].

I used these films, the research from my chosen artists on the design board and from the book, 'Cartoon Modern: Style and Design in Fifties Animation'[4], and saw what they were doing, and tried to include that into some short animation trials.

I started to realise quite quickly that the hand drawn aspect of this project, as well as the fact it was quite difficult to figure out how to get the movements right, made it a much harder challenge than I originally intended.

I slowly realised it was going to create a lot of stress and be quite a huge workload to conquer, and so I decided to unfortunately not carry on with the project. I didn't want to carry on too much longer and have more catching up to do, and so I redesigned my project to something completely different. Because I loved creating the concept art for this project, I wanted to make something that reflected that.
